The Muse

The Muse wants me to find her
She dares me to from time to time
& I love her enouigh to meet her demands
I follow behind her on all the roads
I sit beside her in some Mom & Pop restaurant
I look wherever her finger points
& I play hide-n-seek with her
She always seem to win the hiding part.

Sometimes she'd take my hand & tell me
"You hate the guy who
buys 91 acre wooded lot & turns it into a strip mall -
Does America really need another McDonald's?"
She lead me to the underground
To show me the spirits that lurks there
& she introduce me to a girl who
keeps dying each day just to rise again.
The muse calls her Miss Lazarus.

My Muse never waits on me
She's always up ahead of me
& I could never catch up to her
She'd much rather I wait on her
Just until she figures out something to say
or until she feels excited about
getting a tattoo on her back
or whenever she's ready to fall in love
with some girl that I don't have a chance with.

She lights up the sky when she runs out the door screaming
& tear down everything that dares to stand in her way
Her eyes lights up like fire in anger & vengeful hate
And no steel is safe from her hands
neither is anyone's heart safe from not being broken
She'll ambush me just to draw some blood
& tell me I'd better love it when she's angry
& I tell her I love her no matter what.

Some nights, like last night
I find her crouching in a corner
with a makeup smeared face from crying
and black ink covering up her red nails
& she's talking to the dark like
someone other than me is listening
but no one is really paying attention
She got a voice that send chills down my spine
& she keeps repeating the same thing.

"Let them see your pain.
Let them see the damage they've caused."

I myself had a few physical encounters with my Muse a few years ago, but they were just enough to jump-start me.
